In February, co-founders of Blue Forest — one of the founding partners of the North Yuba Forest Partnership — Phil Saksa and Nick Wobrock joined the Economic Architecture Project podcast to discuss the importance of innovations in forest restoration and climate project financing. They discussed the need for timeliness and capacity when it comes to forest restoration. By creating an innovative financing mechanism that streamlines funding into natural infrastructure, Blue Forest is finding new ways to bring capital to local communities–helping to build resilience in a variety of new ways.
Phil and Nick spoke with podcast host Stuart Yasgur, overviewing the financing mechanisms designed by Blue Forest to help climate resilience efforts for restoring watersheds, forests, and grasslands. When it comes to wildfires in particular, Blue Forest is helping fund forest restoration projects to move forward at a timeline and scale it wouldn’t otherwise. Phil and Nick highlighted the key role of this financing in getting the North Yuba Forest Partnership off the ground, and how important this landscape project has been to Blue Forest's ability to spread these financing mechanisms to other critical landscapes.
